Moving away from making tests and samples is hard. I’m happiest in my studio just exploring, note taking, improving technically and artistically, but very much in my own head. Finally, a year on, I’ve photographed my most recent works and they are on the website and in the world. This Georgia O’Keeffe quote is a useful reminder that how they are received it not what matters.

“Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing.” – Georgia O’Keeffe

There’s no paint involved in the “Young as the Morning” series. It is made solely of Bullseye glass, with the ethereal, painterly marks achieved with a combination of heat, weight, gravity and flow.

I’m back in research mode and came across this article by the musician David Gray. Published in 2016 by the Eastern Daily Press it describes perfectly what I’m striving to convey in my work. Worth a read… link to full article below.

“From the dreamy intimacy of its dunes to the exhilarating expanses of its vast and empty beaches, the North Norfolk Coast is a place to lose yourself, a place of non-attachment. Whenever I immerse myself in the landscape, I have a sense of lightness, like a weight being lifted.”
