new works

My practice explores how time spent in natural landscapes can impact our brain chemistry. This new series of works is informed by the medical research into ‘gaze softening’ as a method of reducing anxiety and calming over-activity in the human fight or flight response.

“Young as the Morning” is a series of intimate, holdable pieces made entirely of Bullseye Glass, kilnformed over several firings and coldworked.

My technique harnesses heat, gravity and flow on a micro scale. Glass powders, blended with medium, are dropped 2-3 millimeters, under pressure, without moulds, achieving the ethereal softness of this series of works.
