About

I’ve made works for public and private spaces in a broad range of materials including wood, polished concrete, metal, and textiles. My first experience of working with glass was collaborating with a specialist fabricator to realize the design of “The Covenant” for Maidenhead Synagogue. In common with so many other glass artists I felt the material had found me, and its technical challenges and creative possibilities became central to my personal practice.

Whilst I trained in fine craft, I am self taught in glass. In 2019 I travelled to the Bullseye Glass factory in Portland, Oregon to take part in “Mastering Simplicity” led by the Australian artist Jessica Loughlin. I now work solely with Bullseye glass and kiln forming is at the core of both my commissioned and exhibition work.

My “Visibility” series explores the moments we dissolve into a landscape, and the strength and protection we gain from that experience. It was selected for the Contemporary Glass Society Summer Exhibition 2023 and has been featured in gallery shows in St Ives, Sheffield and The Cotswolds. This year I will be exhibiting new works informed by the medical research into “gaze softening” as a method of reducing anxiety and calming over activity in the human fight or flight response.
